They really like Love/Hate in the UK, even if they’re having some trouble understanding it

RTE’s crime drama got its first UK airing last night, and it did very well indeed.

It is probably the most loved show RTE make right now, and it looks like Love/Hate is also going to be a big hit with our UK cousins.

Channel 5 showed the first episode of Series 1 last night and it pulled in 800,000 viewers, more than Channel 4 or BBC2 managed for that time slot, which should make the folks at Channel 5 very happy indeed.

After receiving a very positive write-up in the Guardian yesterday morning, the show was teed up to be a success and the lucky folks in the UK now get to watch all three series, back-to-back, for the next few months.

Maybe by the end of the run they will understand the accents as some viewers on Twitter last night struggled to understand what Darren, John Boy and Nidge were saying.

Still, at least they have fresh (to them) episodes to watch. We have to wait until November for our next fix…
