Many of you may have missed it while watching the rugby, so this visual breakdown of the Spurs striker’s possessions explains the entire game.
While most of us were watching Ireland almost, almost beat the All Blacks, Manchester City were teaching Spurs a thing or two.
Jesus Navas scored after 14 seconds for the Citizens and it was one-way traffic from kick-off, with Man City eventually winning 6-0.
Tottenham gaffer AVB called the result ‘extremely embarrassing’ and the statistical breakdown of what his striker Roberto Soldado did won’t help the Portuguese man’s mood this morning.
Spurs had a decent amount of possession but Spanish striker Soldado did not have a good game, only managing one effort on goal, and that was off target.
That poor showing is perfectly reflected in this heatmap. Heatmaps are used to see where a player had the ball most often and is a great way of tracking a player’s area of influence.
Sadly for Soldado, his most active area was the centre circle, as he helped Spurs restart five times after goals were conceded, plus once to start a half.
Favourite Opta heatmap from this weekend: Roberto Soldado. Had to kick-off six times, the poor guy. pic.twitter.com/iFM2zOWLn5
