Hard as it might be to believe but Tony Cascarino thinks Roy Keane bullied and intimidated Alex Ferguson while at Manchester United.

Hard as it might be to believe but Tony Cascarino thinks Roy Keane bullied and intimidated Alex Ferguson while at Manchester United.

The former Irish international was on The Last Word last night with Matt Cooper on Today FM, to speak about Keane’s interview with David Walsh in The Sunday Times and his ongoing spat with Alex Ferguson.

Cascarino was asked by Cooper what he made of the interview and the anger Keane feels at how he was allowed to leave the club.

Cascarino said: “Mark [Lawrenson, who was also on the show] knows and I know there were players at Man United that were bullied by Roy, intimidated. He played in that manner. He also intimidated and bullied Alex Ferguson.

“People will probably laugh at that but you talk to players in that era about Roy and he did that with Fergie as well.

“But all the time Fergie knew he was a fantastic player so he would let him get away with it. Fergie knew that one day, when you aren’t my best player, redemption day would come.

“Roy got away with murder at Manchester United for a number of years, the way he treated some players, the way he carried on.”

So Cascarino theory is that the manner of Keane’s exit was revenge for how Fergie was bullied by the Corkman during his time at Old Trafford.

It is hard to believe that the man with the reputation as the most ruthless manager in English football could be intimidated by anyone but Cascarino was positive and he did play with Keane for years in the Irish set-up.

Cascarino went on to admit that he and Keane have had their fair share of rows over the years and that he also thought Keane is “bitter and twisted”.

Keane has been a divisive figure since he first appeared on the scene and now, even though he is retired and out of the game as a manager too, he still manages to be the most talked about person in football.

Can we expect another interview with Roy next week answering Cas? We hope so.
