Tooth-less performance from Dutch manager after excessive celebrations

Twente manager Michel Jansen paid a heavy price, or at least will soon pay a heavy price after he had his tooth knocked out by his assistant.

Twente manager Michel Jansen paid a heavy price, or at least will soon pay a heavy price after he had his tooth knocked out by his assistant.

The Dutch league leaders opened the scoring against reigning champions Ajax, which was celebrated wildly by Twente’s assistant manager Youri Mulder. So much so that his fist pump in the air connected with Jansen in the midst of the jubilation.

In what will go down as one of the football understatements of the season, Jansen told reporters the obvious.

“Youri celebrated rather excitedly,” he said afterwards.

To rub salt into the tooth wounds, Twente conceded a late equaliser, so all in all, not a great day for Jansen.
