Arsenal have realised that they’ll need more than Olivier Giroud to finish off their fancy passing moves. So much so that they are linked with not one, but two strikers in today’s reports. Karim Benzema has had his best ever season at Real Madrid so naturally the papers believe he’ll be sold and Arsenal are prepared to dish out €30m large ones according to the Daily Telegraph. The French striker has one year remaining on his contract and is ripe for the selling.
Carlos Vela (above) used to play for Arsenal, but they sold him to Real Sociedad believing that he was quite naff. However, on closer inspection, they’ve apparently realised the error of their ways and have activated a clause in his contract which allows them to buy him back for the paltry £3m. According to the Metro, the Mexican is only too happy to head back to North London and play in the Capital One Cup.
Adam Lallana is one of the most common names in the transfer rumour extravaganzas these days and he’s back in the papers today because The Star are reporting that his proposed move to Liverpool could be in doubt. They cite Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino as being the reason. They’re saying that if Mauricio fancies taking up the one year career option under Daniel Levy at Spurs, young Lallana will be his first big signing.
Not to be deterred, Brendan Rodgers will thumb his nose at Lallana and launch a massive £60m bid for Uruguayan hit man Edison Cavani (pic above). Rodgers is preparing for fellow Uruguayan Luis Suarez pulling his jersey up over his head, tip-toeing out the Anfield back door and running quite quickly into the arms of Real Madrid.
Reliable fairytale website, Caught Offside have said that Liverpool will find it impossible to resist Real Madrid and their huge wads of cash. They filled the Spurs coffers last year signing Bale, and look how well that turned out for the North London club.
The rest of the news involves Romelu Lukaku being offered a new contract at Chelsea according to the Express and the Daily Mail are now telling us that Bayern Munich have joined the race to sign David Luiz with a bid of £25m being mentioned. Remember Joe Cole (pic above)? Yeah, well he’s leaving West Ham and now, according to the Daily Mirror, the big MSL clubs are getting their hair done, trimming their beards and putting on their Sunday best in an effort to tempt the former England player stateside.
