Transfer Talk: Barkley to Man City, Yedlin to Liverpool and Eduardo back to the Premier League

Today’s gossip is full of new names to the rumour mill. Welcome aboard, we hope you enjoy the ride…

With the Luis Suarez deal to Barcelona all but done it seems, there was a gap in the market for some new names to keep the transfer tornado spinning. And by jove, today’s papers have come up with some crackers. We’ll start with a big one that will be a worry to Everton fans.

Today’s Mirror says that Manchester City like the cut of Ross Barkley’s jib and fancy having him at the Etihad. The City bosses are hoping that £25m quid plus the return of former Everton man Jack Rodwell (remember him) will do the trick. We can’t see Roberto Martinez letting the 20-year-old go for such a relatively small fee but this may just be the start of  along saga. After all, it is only July 5.

Across Stanley Park it seems Brendan Rodgers has been lashing into the espressos and staying up to watch the World Cup like the rest of us. According to the Metro, Liverpool saw DeAndre Yedlin’s flying show as a full back for the US team and would like to take him away from current club Seattle Sounders. There is talk of a trial in pre-season but we reckon we saw enough in Brazil that says he could do a job in the Premier League.

The other titbit from Anfield surrounds Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. The perennial transfer window player will have to talk to current club Schalke after interest from the Reds. Well, that’s what the London Evening Standard says. To be honest, after literally years of speculation, we would love to see how we would do in the Premier League.

Back to Manchester City and it seems that Alvaro Negredo could well be on his way out. City would like to keep him, say the Sun, but an offer in the region of £25m would probably see the 28-year-old leave. Earlier in the summer he was linked with Atletico Madrid but no team is mentioned this time.

There a couple of bits of Chelsea news too. The Star say they are after Toni Kroos, which doesn’t really make much sense but there you go and former Blue Ashley Cole could be plying his trade for Roma next year, according to the Mail.

Finally, former Arsenal striker Eduardo could be on his way back to the Premier League. The Croatian striker suffered an horrific injury playing for the Gunners in 2008 and while he eventually did play again he was never quite the same and Arsenal sold him to Shakhtar Donetsk  in 2010.

Now a free agent, the 31-year-old is linked today with moves to both QPR (Mirror) and Stoke (Star).
