Transfer Talk: Liverpool eye a loan move for Hazard, while Sagna set for talks with Manchester City

As slightly misleading headlines go, the one we’ve used here is a bit of doozie. Sorry about that.

Liverpool are looking at bringing in Thorgan Hazard (brother of Eden) on loan from Chelsea next season, probably because the last time they signed an attacking midfielder/winger from the Londoners it was a resounding success.

Sorry Victor.

Thorgan Hazard, 21, has just been voted Player of the Year in Belgium having played on loan for the season at Zulte Waregem, and is on stand-by for Belgium’s World Cup squad. Jose Mourinho is thought to be interested in sending him out on loan again next season, with Everton also keen.

Staying with Liverpool, manager Brendan Rodgers hopes to tie up a deal for Southampton duo Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren – a much needed defender – before things kick off in Brazil.

Bacary Sagna will enter talks with Manchester City this week over a move, following the end of his deal at Arsenal, while Arsene Wenger will reportedly sign an £8m-a-year deal to stay with the Gunners whether they win the FA Cup Final against Hull City on Saturday or not.

Finally, formerly handy striker Darren Bent – in semi-retirement on the bench at Fulham for the last year or so – is wanted by Newcastle manager Alan Pardew as Loic Remy’s replacement. Bent is still on the books at Aston Villa.
