It’s busy on Merseyside as Liverpool’s attempted scavenging of Southampton’s first team goes on.

Rickie Lambert flew to Liverpool after England’s friendly win over Peru on Friday evening, and is currently thought to be undergoing a medical at Anfield.

While that piece of business will be tied up on Monday, the Reds still don’t know if a £25m bid for Adam Lallana – their final offer, apparently – will be enough to bring the playmaker to the Premier League runners-up.

Elsewhere Barcelona have told Arsenal that Cesc Fabregas is not for sale and will not be returning to the Emirates Stadium.

Roma want to be Tottenham flop Erik Lamela back to the Italian capital, with Napoli also interested.

The Daily Mirror report that Liverpool could sign defender Alberto Moreno from Sevilla within the next week, while Frank Lampard says retirement is a possibility if he doesn’t agree a new deal at Chelsea.

Manchester United hope to beat Liverpool to the signing of Yevhen Konoplyanka, despite not being able to offer European football, while French Ligue 1 club Montpellier have told Newcastle United they must pay £12m if they want to sign 24-year-old attacking midfielder Remy Cabella.
