New Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal may have his mind on other matters until July, but that doesn’t mean his new employers aren’t getting busy in the transfer market.

Van Gaal reportedly has £220m to spend this summer and he’s being linked with some of the biggest names in world football.

Luke Shaw is expected to complete his move from Southampton in the next week or so, with van Gaal looking at at least five other players to totally revamp the United teamsheet.

Kevin Strootman, Cesc Fabregas and Atletico Madrid youngster Koke are being chased to bolster the midfield, while Joao Miranda and Mats Hummels could join Shaw in defence.

Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, Feyenoord’s Jordy Clasie and Ajax star Daley Blind are also on the Old Trafford radar.

Tottenham, meanwhile, hope to scupper Liverpool’s move for Adam Lallana with a bid of £30m as Mauricio Pochettino eyes a reunion with his former captain.

Manchester City are willing to let Yaya Toure join Paris Saint Germain and replace him with Fabregas, who was told on Saturday that he can leave Barcelona.

Finally, Frank Lampard looks likely to leave Chelsea this summer and link up with David Villa at the newly formed New York City FC.
