Transfer Talk: Ronaldo looks set to stay and Chelsea eye up Hulk

JOE

There’s nothing like a bit of transfer speculation to get you through the day, with all the movers and shakers in the Premier League and beyond

The big news for Manchester United and Real Madrid fans is the rumoured move (or lack thereof) of Cristiano Ronaldo back to the current Premier League champions. It looks like that one might be a no go, despite what the Gardai say, as it seems that Real are poised to offer him what Marca are calling “the deal of the century”. We presume that means money, and lots of it.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are looking at bringing in a good few players, and have been linked with Bayer Leverkusen forward and German international Andre ‘Don’t call me Shirley’ Schurrle, as well as the big Brazilian, Hulk. Both deals have been touted before, so this could become a big saga this summer, although seeing as the latter cost over £50 million last summer, there might be a large sum of money involved in any move, and Chelsea have a great record when it comes to buying big money strikers.

They’ve also got their eyes on strengthening their defence by bringing in Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala (best of luck to all the commentators out there with that one) as well as Adil Rami of Valencia, all of which could be pushing John Terry further towards the exit door.

Yesterday there was reported interest from Monaco, but it seems that Galatasaray are also involved in trying to bring the Englishman abroad, as it looks like he’s no longer Mourinho’s favourite at the Bridge.
David Moyes plans to bring in a midfielder, and address a problem which has been giving the Old Trafford side grief for a while, by signing Kevin Strootman from PSV for around £10 million. There’s also continuing news about Leighton Baines, who could be on the move for the same price.

In news from Anfield, it seems that West Ham are prepared to offer Andy Carroll £100,000 pounds a week to join them from Liverpool. We’ll leave that settle in for a moment.

Anyway, reportedly he’ll cost them £15.5 million, and while Liverpool hope that they can get centre back Tiago Ilori from Sporting Lisbon with that money, it looks like he might be headed to Spain instead to join Valencia. At least the weather will be better anyway if nothing else.

The Italian media are reporting that Carlos Tevez is headed to Juventus as Manuel Pellegrini inches closer to becoming the new Manchester City boss and eyes up a bit of a clean out, most notably on the wage bill, we imagine.
According to Gazetta dello Sport he’ll be taking a pay cut to around €115,000 a week plus bonuses, while Tuttosport are saying that Higuain will be joining him there, although Llorente has also been linked for a long time with the side from Turin. That would be some strikeforce if they can pull it off.

Neymar has apparently already been busy since his arrival at the Camp Nou and has been on to a few of his team mates in the national side to come and join him in Barcelona, namely Thiago Silva. Seeing as Barcelona desperately need to do something about their defence that move would make sense, but he’s going to cost a fair whack of cash. Let’s hope they didn’t blow all their budget on Neymar on the first day, that would be a rookie mistake. We learned that from buying penny sweets down the shop when we were kids, don’t spend it all in one place…
