Long term Manchester United target, Kevin Strootman has his price according to Roma.

The Sun reckon that Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman can leave Roma for Manchester United if the English club cough up £79m. He’s out with a cruciate knee ligament injury at the moment and probably wouldn’t be available till January. However, Roma have reacted to the supposed interest in their player from Louis van Gaal by slapping a £79m price tag on his head.

The player, needless to say, is not happy with having to go around with a large price sticker on his forehead, but his club have insisted he wears it to ward off interest from United.

Argentina v Bosnia-Herzegovina: Group F - 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil

The Daily Star are reporting that Angel Di Maria (pic above) wants to join Manchester United in a £45m deal. Apparently he’s fed up with PSG dragging their heels in securing a deal with him and has issued a come and get me plea to Van Gaal’s team. For a start, we are surprised that the PSG negotiation team were all in heels and can only assume that they were wrecking Di Maria’s new carpet such is his chagrin with them.

Marca, on the other hand, reckon that Di Maria to PSG will happen this week. They expect the Paris-based club to secure the Argentinian winger for £51m. This is the transfer rumour mill in a nutshell. One publication saying one thing and another saying the complete opposite.

Chelsea v Southampton - Premier League

Liverpool’s mission to buy Southampton shows no signs of abating as Talksport report of their interest in Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez (pic above). Following the collapse of the Loic Remy deal, Brendan Rodgers is still keen to add to his striking options and sees Rodriguez as an ideal candidate.

Belgium v USA: Round of 16 - 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil

Jan Vertonghen (pic above) is about to sign a new contract to extend his stay at Tottenham. The Daily Mirror, bucking the trend of most transfer stories, by having actual quotes from the player are reporting that he will sign a new five-year deal worth around £60k a week. Vertonghen said “It goes without saying that I would like to stay at Tottenham. I still had a four-year contract but I see that they have offered me a new five-year contract as a great sign of confidence.” Expect him to sign for Barca as soon as they come knocking.

Denmark v Italy - FIFA 2014 World Cup Qualifier

Southampton, who are down to about four players now, are looking to offload another player in the shape of Dani Osvaldo (pic above). The player, who cost them £15m from Roma last year, has proven to be distinctly unimpressive but it is reported in the Daily Mail that he is wanted by Inter Milan and they are sending a crack team of negotiators to the Southampton car boot sale to trash out a deal.

Netherlands v Chile: Group B - 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil

Ronald Koeman has spotted the dearth in numbers at pre-season training at Southampton and is looking to bring in Norwich’s Leroy Fer (pic above). The Sun reckon Koeman will try to sign his fellow Dutch man and beat QPR to his signature. Expect Fer to sign for Southampton and then within days be linked with a switch to Anfield.

We’re off to ask Inter Milan if they’ve ever actually seen Dani Osvaldo play.
