Tyrone send in their top dog to sort out Joe Brolly

JOE

He has been sorting out problematic forwards for years, so it was no surprise to see Ryan McMenamin look to soften the cough of Joe Brolly today.

The former Derry marksman and RTE pundit has thrown wide open the debate on cynical fouling after his outburst on Sean Cavanagh following THAT tackle during the All-Ireland quarter-final against Monaghan. Many disagreed with the severity of his comments towards the Tyrone midfielder, particularly those in the Red Hand county.

In fairness to Brolly, he apologised for questioning Cavanagh as a man, claiming he meant on the field of play, but has stood by his contempt for what he sees as negative tactics that are destroying the game.

Ricey McMenamin was of course no stranger to quietening flashy forwards during his day, so looked only too happy to show Brolly what he thought of his views on his former teammate.

It all looked to be in good spirits, though we can imagine there are many Tyrone supporters who would love to be in the same position as the former All-Star defender.
