We’re lucky in this country that we get to watch very heated and very entertaining debates during live sports coverage pretty much any time Eamon Dunphy appears as an analyst on RTE’s football coverage.
While Eamon and his cohorts have been involved in some pretty feisty verbal spats over the years, we don’t know if they’ve ever become as heated as CSN New England’s Lou Merloni, Gary Tanguay, and Kirk Minihane did when discussing New England Patriots coach Bill Belechick’s impending first press conference since Aaron Hernandez was arrested and charged for murder last month.
To be fair to Merloni, he pretty much sat back and enjoyed the fireworks as Tanguay and Minihane got stuck into each other approximately 1:30 into the video above.
In what made for slightly cringey but hugely entertaining television, neither Tanguay nor Minihane were prepared to back down and judging by the conclusion to the clip above, this was a row that probably kept going long after the cameras were turned off.
The bar has been raised Dunphy, time to up your game.
