With inspirational goalkeeper Shane Curran back between the sticks, St. Brigid’s have marched to another All-Ireland Final. And most importantly, he is Chris O’Dowd’s hero.

The Bridesmaids and Moone Boy star was part of the Sunday Game's ‘My Hero’ series last year and with Shane Curran now set for another day out at Croke Park, it is as good a reason as any to play it again.
O’Dowd names two Roscommon players, John Newton and Shane Curran and while Newton’s impressive fielding was inspiring when he was younger, he also says that Curran’s mad cap behaviour, as well as his brilliant shot-stopping ability marked him out as a firm favourite.
“He comes from that great dramatic tradition of out-of-your-box crazy goalkeepers. He could save penalty and score a 45’, but at the same time he’d be just as happy to ride a bull into a church.”
“And he could do all those things within the space of two hours. He was gangbusters.”
We think that is about as good a description as we have heard for the man that has brought jogging pants back with a bang.
After ending Crossmaglen's dreams of three-in-a-row on Saturday, only Ballymun Kickhams stand in the way of an historic first ever All-Ireland victory for the Roscommon side.
