The high schooler is now at the centre of a police investigation.
A Friday Night Lights game became Friday Night Fights in Pennsylvania last weekend. A game between Hamburg and Annville-Cleona featured a third quarter schemozzle that went at least one step too far.
Hamburg’s Joseph Cominsky pulled the helmet off opponent Josh Hartman during the row, and beat him over the head with it, striking the player twice.
Luckily Hartman suffered nothing more than a cut on the head, but police in the area may press charges, according to Deadspin’s report on the incident.
The school authorities will also meet tomorrow, so Cominsky probably faces a few weeks in detention as a minimum.
