This isn’t the first time-lapse video of our capital city, but we’ve rarely seen her look so pretty…
Irish people, not least Dubliners themselves, like to bitch and moan about our capital city on occasion, whether it’s the unsightliness of the Spire or the raucousness of Temple Bar on a Saturday night, but we sometimes forget that it’s not that bad a place at all.
It would be hard find a Dubliner who’s as fond of Dublin, however, as Matthieu Chardon, a photographer born in Paris who is currently based in the city, who spent 52 hours in November shooting thousands of photos for a stunning time-lapse video, which only took 47 odd hours to edit afterwards.
The labour of love was worth it in the end as a number of Dublin’s most prominent landmarks feature in a stunning 5-minute time-lapse video of our capital city and like we said, we’ve rarely seen her look so pretty.
Speaking to JOE via e-mail, Matthieu said: “This video is a celebration of how beautiful and interesting Dublin is through my eyes. At the end it shows only one per cent of the city atmosphere but at least I hope it will give you emotions.
“It was quite tough to shoot particularly at night, and with hours of walking in the cold and windy Howth hills, but still wonderful. Thanks to Lise who helped me to stay warm.”
