Unlike The Simpsons, Samaras didn’t get rattled in the crown jewels, but this looked pretty painful nonetheless.
With Celtic holding a 2-0 lead at home to Ajax, the Greek striker took his place in a defensive wall to try and stop Siem de Jong from salvaging something for the visitors and he did his duty as De Jong’s effort rattled him straight in the noggin and sent him flying to the turf.
Samaras’ team-mates looked concerned after seeing his reaction but after looking a bit woozy for a few minutes he was eventually able to continue and despite a red card for Nir Biton in the closing stages and a stoppage-time goal by Lasse Schone, Celtic held on to claim all three points.
