It’s a sad day for the beautiful game, as fans everywhere bid farewell to one of the greatest soccer players in the world.
The former Shakhtar Donetsk, Anderlecht and, of course, Liverpool midfielder has reportedly decided to hang up his boots having failed to find a club for the last year after a two-year contract with Anderlecht, who he joined from Liverpool in 2011, expired in 2013.
Reds fans in particular might be forgiven for raising an eyebrow at the above statement that the one-time Serbian international is one of the greatest soccer players in their world, but never let it be said that the folks on Ramsay Street don’t know their football and if Neighbours said he is, or at least was, one of the best around, who are we to disagree?
Jovanovic might have spent only one season at Liverpool, but he’ll be remembered by fans at Anfield and beyond for easily one of the best football-related clips on the Internet in the last five years...
