Alvaro Arbeloa, colder than the other side of the pillow…
JOE recently brought you the news of an incident packed first-leg meeting between rivals Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup.
However, there was drama of a different sort in the tunnel before the game even started but what’s surprising about this clip is that it involved two players from the same team.
Take a look at former Liverpool full-back Alvaro Arbleoa as he greets his teammates in the tunnel.
He hugs Daniel Carvajal (who started ahead of him) before acknowledging Bale, Marcelo and Pepe with a warm embrace.
When he sees Iker Casillas… nothing.
The pair have had their run ins in the past. A few years ago, the goalkeeper ‘liked’ a random supporter’s Instagram post that described Arbeloa as a ‘traffic cone’ due to his lack of pace.
In response the defender retweeted a story about a book called ‘Subversive Madrid’, that described Casillas as a ‘tumor’ on Real Madrid during Jose Mournho’s tenure.
In the interest of fairness, another angle did appear that showed a more ‘courteous’ exchange between the pair in the tunnel before the match but we think that the look on Casillas’ face tells the real story.
