There are any amount of alternative meanings for the phrase ‘second base’ but this definitely isn’t what Jonathan Villar had in mind when trying to reach that landmark last night.

The Houston Astros shortstop was trying frantically to reach second base after hitting a low strike down the middle during a clash with the Cincinnati Reds, but Reds’ baseman Brandon Phillips saw him coming and set him up to be called out in embarrassing fashion.

Making sure that Villar wasn’t going to get to the base before the ball, Phillips crouched down and protected the base with his arse, managing to catch Villar out and ensure a very embarrassing and hilarious collision with his rear-end at the same time.

The phrase ‘Kiss my ass’ has never seemed more appropriate yet disturbing at the same time.
