Video: How the Miami Heat title celebration parade almost killed LeBron James

Open top bus + really tall dudes + low bridges = really bad idea

Open top bus + really tall dudes + low bridges = really bad idea.

We’ve seen a lot of open top bus parade problems in our time. From trophies dropping over the edge to David Luis being really drunk, the combo of sports team, success and booze on a moving vehicle is usually a recipe for disaster.

But when it comes to NBA teams, there is an additional problem. Height. The Miami Heat had their post title victory parade yesterday and they stuck the lads on an open-top bus so that the locals could have a look at the victorious team. So far, so normal.

However, whoever planned the route of the bus failed to consider the problem of bridges, some very low bridges at that. That led to this situation where it took some quick thinking by LeBron James to ensure that he and the best team in basketball were not all killed.

Seriously, if this happened in the GAA we would all be slagging them for weeks. Almost the biggest, and most fatal, parade fail of all time.
