We make that one y’know every 3.5 seconds. Impressive stuff.

Footballers often make for notoriously dull interviewees because of their tendency to repeat the same phrases over again; you can nearly guarantee, for example, that phrases like ‘obviously’ ‘the gaffer’ and ‘the most important thing was to get the three points’ will pop up nearly every time a footballer speaks in front of a camera.

Jermain Defoe reached new levels of ridiculousness in a recent interview in Canada where he was commenting on the process behind his move from Spurs to MLS outfit Toronto FC.

Practically every word, never mind the end of every sentence, was followed with the words ‘y’know’ and although Defoe does admittedly speak pretty fast, that amount of y’knows in such a short space of time would raise suspicions that he was almost doing it on purpose… y’know.
