There was a pretty petty incident during Toronto FC’s game with New York Red Bulls in the MLS last night. Former West Ham and Spurs striker Jermain Defoe and his Toronto teammate Gilberto got quite heated about who should take a close-range free-kick.
Defoe knocked the ball out of Gilberto’s hands and didn’t look too far away from actually smacking his teammate, it was pretty childish stuff. Defoe was left to look a little silly after as Gilberto absolutely thumped in the dead ball.
It was a hell of a strike and the two lads made up after, bless.
