Video: Kenny Cunningham took the Roy Keane approach when analysing Tahiti’s defeat last night

Tahiti lost 10-0 to Spain in the Confederations Cup last night but it was just great that they were there in the first place, right? Not as far as Kenny Cunningham was concerned.

Before last night, the most controversial thing about the former Ireland captain – who is an astute enough pundit at the best of times – was his constantly moving eyebrows but he stepped it up a notch with a rather brutal analysis of the Tahiti side after their defeat to the reigning World and European Champions.

After the game, Cunningham questioned the professionalism and preparation of a side who are ranked 138th in the world by FIFA and whose players have to work to earn a living outside of football and he also seemed a bit put out by the fact that they were smiling after suffering such a comprehensive defeat.

The general consensus on Twitter afterwards was that Cunningham had been taking too many lessons from the Roy Keane school of punditry and was way too harsh on the Tahitians and given what he had to say about them, it’s probably a good thing he didn’t see the Tahitian ‘keeper giving an interview in his jocks afterwards.
