Video: Lads in Oz literally go to dizzying new heights to support Mayo for Sam

JOE

Don’t try this at home kids, as two Mayo lads climb a very tall building in Melbourne to plant a Mayo flag.

It would be very easy to link these lads efforts to plant a Mayo flag on a very high disused factory tower in Melbourne and the Mayo footballers finally reaching their own summit on Sunday so we will.

In terms of effort, danger, and a touch of madness, this Mayo 4 Sam video will take some beating. Four lads, all we know is they are called Alan, Dave, Martin and Ray, from Ballyhaunis and Westport, saw a chance to have a Mayo flag fly high over the city of Melbourne so they took it.

Two of the lads, who are trained in abseiling and have all the gear so it wasn’t quite as dangerous as it looks, climbed this tower right beside West Gate Freeway, one of the main road into Melbourne, and planted a rather large Mayo flag on the top of it.

They all returned to earth safe and sound and sent us the video. Our only question was what was the deal with the fella in the Dublin jersey? We’ve been told it was Alan, who wore it ‘for a laugh’ but we think this immediately disqualifies him from being a real Mayo fan, despite his best efforts Down Under this weekend.

Once again, don’t even think about trying this yourself and thanks to the lads for sending our way.
