One of the craziest things we've seen on a football pitch...
Referees have to put up with a lot of abuse on the pitch, so much so that we often wonder what attracts them to the job. The verbal stuff is bad enough but when it spills into physical violence, there's a huge problem.
A match in the Romanian lower leagues between Semenicul Văliug and Minerul Anina had to be stopped after a player, we can only describe as an absolute thug, decided to headbutt the referee after he'd been shown a red card.
It's not just a slight tip either, the player takes a five yard run up and then delivers the blow. It's ridiculous behaviour.

Fair play to the referee for getting up so quickly and hopefully he isn't too hurt, JOE still can't quite believe it happened.
