A fantastic gesture from the fans in the San Siro

With the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster being marked at grounds all over the Premier League and Football League this past weekend, we saw a great example of the footballing community coming together to pay their respects and show that they felt the loss, no matter what club they supported.

After a 1-0 win against Catania this weekend, the fans in the San Siro in the Curva Sud stayed behind after the final whistle to similarly mark the occasion with a rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

This isn’t the first time that Milan fans have made such a gesture however, as just four short days after the tragedy, at the start of a European Cup semi-final against Real Madrid, the fans held a moment’s applause and began singing the song famously associated with the Liverpool club.
