Video: Philippe Mexes banned for four games for this punch on Chiellini
The AC Milan defender escaped any action for his punch on the pitch, but has received a three game ban today. Plus another game for good measure for the red card he did receive.
To say Philippe Mexes had an eventful game in Milan’s 3-2 defeat to Juventus would be a slight understatement.
The French defender gave Giorgio Chiellini a thump during the game, but escaped the attention of the referee. He got his come uppence not long after when he was given his marching orders for a second yellow card when he gave away a free-kick outside the box, from which Chiellini scored what turned out to be the winner.
Sulley Muntari scored after 20 seconds and again at the death, but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat last night as Meelan’s indifferent start to the season continues and Mexes was given his retrospective punishment today.
