Video: Player celebrates his first ever goal with a back flip, injures his knee on landing

Your heart would have to go out to Brazilian youngster Maurides here. Wouldn’t see it happen to Alan Shearer…

The acrobatic post-goal celebration is a dangerous business, especially if you don’t score that often. While Robbie Keane can merrily cartwheel and give us the double gun salute with ease after so many attempts, we wouldn’t like to see, let’s say, Paul McShane try it. That harsh footballing lesson was learned by a young Brazilian footballer last night, named Maurides. Playing for Internacional in the Copa do Brasil against América MG the 19-year-old scored his first ever goal as a pro. He then broke out the somersault move but as you will see, he didn’t quite stick the landing, injuring his right knee in the process. It’s quite hard to watch and the poor fella had to leave the game on a stretcher. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOE_DsGGrHU
