Incredible CCTV footage from last week’s floods in Clonakilty show just how quickly the town went under water.
The Cork town of Clonakilty is still cleaning up and counting the cost of last week’s floods. And at a meeting with Government ministers yesterday to try and develop a plan to prevent future floods, the above footage was used to illustrate just how quickly the town went under.
The CCTV film, from O’Donovan’s Hotel in Clonakilty, shows the street outside the hotel go from empty to flooded in just under six minutes. It is hard to believe that two feet of water could build up so quickly but the video proves it did happen.
If this doesn’t force the Office of Public Works into action, nothing will.
