There weren’t the fireworks that many might have been expecting, but Keane wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to have a dig at his former boss.

The former Ireland and Manchester United captain arguably came out the worst of the many, many targets of Fergie’s ire in his latest autobiography launched today, with Fergie saying, amongst other things, that his tongue was the strongest part of his body and that by the time of exit, it was as if he was trying to manage Manchester United himself.

As soon as the revelations emerged, plenty of football fans were eager to see how Keane would react as part of the ITV Champions League panel and the issue was brought up immediately by Adrian Chiles, who asked Keane how angry he was about what Ferguson had said about him in the book.

Keane was measured enough in his response but did deliver a cutting line when he said that his former boss didn’t know the meaning of loyalty and while it was interesting to hear Keane’s views on the issue, a lot of credibility was lost when Lee Dixon and particularly Ian Wright got involved in the debate and it was brought to a head moments later. They had a football match to look forward to after all.

The clip above is only a small excerpt of Keane’s thoughts on the matter but we’ll update it with the full interview as soon as possible.

Not Keane’s most explosive quotes of all time, but he still managed to get a point across without having to go over the top to do so. Feel free to let us know what you thought in the comment box below.
