Amongst the hazards you expect to encounter during a race, a suicidal seagull is not one of them, but this truck driver wasn’t about to let it get in the way of victory.
Justin Lofton was competing in a Stadium Super Truck event in Toronto earlier this month and seemingly cruising along untroubled when a seagull unexpectedly flew into his cab mid-race.
One could forgive Lofton if he instinctively tried to swerve out of the way or even ducked his head and went briefly off course but he dealt with the seagull as if it was merely a piece of paper that had entered his cab and calmly tossed it away before going on to win the race.
Unfortunately we don’t know what became of the seagull afterwards but judging by the impact it made with the cab on entry, hopes that it is still alive are on a wing and a prayer at this stage.
