If you didn’t know better, you might mistake it for a Daft Punk music video, but the new Adidas ad promoting Lionel Messi’s adizero f50 boots is pretty impressive.
It might seem a travesty to even suggest it, but Messi might have to try that little bit harder to command the majority of the attention at the Nou Camp next season after the arrival of Brazilian sensation Neymar, a man not averse to stealing the show himself.
The Argentinean genius will be helped do just that by the very flashy Adidas adizero f50 boots he’ll be wearing next season, boots which the sportswear giant are trying to promote with the tagline ‘the new speed of light’ and a flashy new ad featuring their biggest star hooked up to a series of LED lights that make him look like a character from the movie Tron.
The ad itself mightn’t belong in the pantheon of great football ads, of which there are many, but it’s still pretty impressive and it also helps to remind us that the return of actual football after a long-off season is just around the corner.
And thank God for that.
