It turns out that it was the Real Madrid star’s brother.
Anyone paying close attention to the Champions League final will have seen Cristiano Ronaldo embracing someone at the side of the pitch.
According to 101GreatGoals, the person was not an old team-mate of the Portuguese star – as reported in the press – but his brother, who suffers from alcoholism.
The brothers had reportedly made a pact before the final that, should Ronaldo come away with a medal, his brother would quit the bottle for good.
According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Ronaldo said to his brother during the embrace: “I fulfilled my part of the pact, so now you do yours: stop drinking.”
