Everyone knew how good Thiago was before today’s European under-21 Championships Final against Italy, but a hat-trick wasn’t a bad way of reminding anyone who had forgotten.
The Barcelona youngster has shown numerous glimpses of his ability at club and international level in recent years and he has been on fire throughout the European under-21 Championships, a competition in which Spain sealed victory with a 4-2 victory over Italy in the final earlier today.
Thiago scored a first half hat-trick to set the Spaniards on their way to victory (see above) and his performance will only serve to fuel interest from the likes of Manchester United, who have been heavily linked with a move for the 22-year old.
With the game as good as won in the second half, Thiago took the opportunity to showboat a little as well, although Spain have been so good in this tournament that, truth be told, you could mistake their general play for showboating a lot of the time, they’ve been that impressive.
The future’s bright for the reigning World and European Champions alright.
