From World Cup Willie to Alice the Eagle everyone loves a good mascot, but as long as it’s not serious, we love laughing when they’re the victim of unfortunate yet hilarious accidents on the sporting field.

The traditionally gigantic and colourful costumes donned by sporting mascots throughout the world might be pleasant for fans to look at, but you can’t help but think that they are probably just a little impractical and not exactly fit for purpose, which generally involves dancing around a lot and trying to gee up the fans.

Because of that, mascots have been involved in some pretty unfortunate accidents over the years but as long as we know that they weren’t seriously hurt, it’s OK to laugh, right?
