Juan Sebastián Verón has announced that he will retire from professional football for what seems to be the fifteenth time. The former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder, who is currently plying his trade with Estudiantes de La Plata in Argentina, has decided to hang up his boots and the end of this current season.

Verón lit up Serie A after moving from Boca Juniors in 1996, and eventually sealed a big money deal to take him to Manchester United for £28.1 million from Lazio in 2000. Although he failed to replicate his sparkling form on English soil, his manager at United (one Alex Ferguson) didn’t like being questioned about his purchase of the Argentine star, and told the assembled media at a press conference: “I’m not f*cking talking to you. He’s a f*cking great player. Yous are f*cking idiots.”

After returning to Argentina, he helped his current side Estudiantes to Copa Libertadores glory, further cementing his place as a club legend. As if that wasn’t enough, he also plans to work with the youth set up when he retires, and has previously donated his wage to keeping the youth teams at the club going.

In honor of the great man (we mean Verón not Ferguson) here are some of his greatest goals, a compilation that contains some absolute humdingers.
