Costa Rica have caused a major upset and thrown the cat among the pigeons in Group D after beating Uruguay 3-1 tonight. The South Americans, who were without Luis Suarez, took the lead through an Edinson Cavani penalty.

We all expected them to steam-roll Costa Rica from there but no; inspired by Joel Campbell, who scored the equaliser for the minnows and further goals from Oscar Duarte and Marco Urena, they sealed the win.

Campbell was bloody outstanding from start to finish, his goal, the assist, his long range shooting and his workrate were all top drawer. Gunners manager Arsene Wenger must surely be thinking about giving him a shot at the Emirates next season…
