World Cup Bet of the Day: Croatia to prove sticky opponents, but Brazil will get over the line

All eyes and all of the pressure will be on the hosts in the opening game of the World Cup tonight, but we think they’ll get off to a good start… eventually.

Tipped by many (including a large percentage of the JOE team) as winners and playing in front of an excited and expectant home crowd, it would be understandable if swarms of butterflies were doing cartwheels in the guts of the Brazilian players tonight.

Wind the clock back two years and we learned first-hand at how adept Croatia are at ruining the party before it even gets started and with the likes of Modric, Rakitic and Mandzukic in their ranks, they’re certainly good enough to ensure that things might not necessarily go the way of Neymar, David Luiz and company in Sao Paulo tonight.

We do think that Brazil will do the business but we have a sneaking suspicion that, needing to get the nerves out of the way first, they might not get the job done until the second half and with that in mind, odds of 11/4 on Draw Half Time, Brazil full-time look pretty good to us.
