The Mayo man is now one of the star performers for the struggling Brisbane Lions, as this great goal shows.

While many Mayo folk still hanker after the 24-year-old from Ballaghaderreen it seems pretty clear that he is destined to be an AFL star now.

Last season was his best yet in the AFL and as we approach the end of the 2013 season, Hanley has enjoyed an even better year this term. Many have him as a shoo-in to be the club’s Player of the Year, including club captain Jonathan Brown, and he looks set to shine in the Aussie sun for many more years to come.

This goal, scored in a win over the Gold Coast Suns, showcases his ability as he uses great speed, strength and balance to get to the ball and evade a tackle and then he uses superb skill, on his less favoured left, to kick the goal. As the commentator says, they breed them good in Ireland.
