Video: How to head the ball without even looking, as demonstrated by Moussa Sissoko

As good as Newcastle’s unlikely win over Chelsea was, perhaps the most fascinating thing to occur at St. James’ Park was the sixth sense shown by Moussa Sissoko.

As good as Newcastle’s unlikely win over Chelsea was, perhaps the most fascinating thing to occur at St. James’ Park was the sixth sense shown by Moussa Sissoko.

The Magpies midfielder has been an impressive signing by Alan Pardew and his stock has only risen after this unusual defensive effort on Saturday.

With his back to the corner kick itself, he was shadowing Branislav Ivanovic, a real dangerman from set-pieces, and had little or no interest in the ball. Or so we thought. Keep an eye on the bottom of the screen as this corner is whipped in.

What really makes the clip is not only has he headered the ball clear without even glancing in the direction of the cross, he even jumps just before making contact. Unbelievable Jeff.

Newcastle are often criticised for their defensive deficiencies, and rightly so, but we doubt you’ll ever see a set-piece cleared like this for quite sometime.

Joe Kinnear, sign this man up.
