Steve Sidwell scored with a lovely finish against his former club to give Fulham a first half lead at Craven Cottage.
Nine of Sidwell’s 10 goals for the Cottagers have now come at home and the midfielder showed great skill and determination to clip the ball past Brad Guzan from a tight angle to put Rene Meulensteen’s side one goal to the good after 21 minutes.
Indeed it was a good call from the new Fulham manager as Sidwell was the only change to the starting team that lost to Tottenham midweek, with Pajtim Kasami making way.
No doubt he enjoyed it that bit more against his former team, and just nine minutes later Dimitar Berbatov doubled the lead with a cool finish from the penalty spot.
