When can we start calling it the ‘Garth Brooks Tragedy’?
It’s the news story that just won’t go away, after two Garth Brooks shows at Croke Park – on July 28th and 29th – were called off by Dublin City Council.
More than 12 hours after the news broke Twitter still can’t control itself, with the absence of any World Cup football the likely cause of such prolonged mourning…
From Jim Sheridan…
From the tone of news reports it’s only a matter of time before the Famine Memorial is renamed for the victims of the Garth Brooks Tragedy.

From Colm Tobin…
I’m putting in a 15-night WWF Wrestlemania special in Croke Park next September. Tickets on sale tomorrow at 9am*. *subject to licence

From Jonathan Healy…
So many people on timeline giving out that #GarthBrooks is the lead story. Surely it’s the biggest story of the day??

From Mary Lane…
I reckon all the #GarthBrooks ticket holders for Mon and Tues nights should still show up on the nights to piss off the residents anyway!

From Gerard Shannon…
I’d fear for the Croke Park residents if all #GarthBrooks gigs were cancelled. Could make the LA Riots look like an episode of Teletubbies.

From Mark McCadden…
Of course this frees Richmond Park up for the two cancelled Garth Brooks concerts

From Oliver Callan…
#Garth Brooks “devastated” after #Crokepark snub. Now says he hopes to get to Croker this Summer through the back door in the qualifiers

From Overheard in Dublin…
‘This Garth Brooks fiasco may be the event that actually gets the Irish people out on the streets protesting!’
— Overheard in Dublin (@OverheardDublin) July 3, 2014
From 2FM…
What do the Kerry Football team and #GarthBrooks have in common?? Both failed to get 5 in a row in Croker! BOOM! #GAA
