JOE has a look at how YOU can look uber-cool at the Electric Picnic this weekend (kind of)

We've got all the style tips you need to help you stand out from the crowd...

Eric Lalor

The Electric Picnic is days away and as it is, to all intents and purposes, the final blow-out of the summer. So ahead of it, we’ve got the style tips which will help you stand out from the crowd.

1. GAA Jersey

No man or woman can resist the lure of a man or woman in a GAA jersey. Ask anyone in Coppers.

If you are Irish, the chances are you are from a county, so why not tell everyone which county it is by proudly donning it’s colours and looking super-cool at the same time? Makes sure it’s two sizes too big as well for added hip-hop kudos.

2. Ramones t-shirt

A Ramones t-shirt is an absolute must down at the Picnic. Wear one and instantly look cool and knowledgeable about music and stuff. Who cares if you cannot name one single song they’ve recorded, you’ve got the t-shirt, that’s all you need!

And if anyone has the temerity to walk up to you and ask you to name one of their songs, simply give them the ultimate and timeless riposte, ‘Your Ma!’

3. Trilby Hat

The Glastonbury Festival 2011 - Day Four

Nothing screams sophistication and mystery like a Trilby hat. Dazzle the opposite sex with your head style and perhaps compliment the look by holding a large cigar in one hand and maybe a sherry glass full of cider in the other. People will think you are one of them there aristocrat types.

4. Big Hawaiian shorts

This is a must-have at every music festival. Everyone else is wearing denim and then you come along in luminous pink Hawaiian shorts to create a walkway through the crowd like Moses parting the Red Sea as everyone steps back to look in awe at your sartorial suaveness and penchant for risk-taking.

Oh yeah buddy, you’ve got them on the run now, work it!

5. Costumes/Morphsuits

Glastonbury Music Festival: 40th Anniversary - Day 3

You’re at a festival to have fun. Show off your fun side by wearing a hilarious costume like Batman or Spiderman. Or how about those cool morphsuits?

There is nothing that could get you more sartorial kudos than looking like a gimp from an S&M dungeon. Watch how they flock to bathe in your aura.

6. Rain poncho

It’s classic festival attire, but how cool do you look when the sun is shining and everyone is basking in it’s glorious rays and you walk on by with the confidence of a man who just knows, oh yeah, who just knows he’s being watched?

You’ve got the festival sussed and despite looking like a human plastic pyramid, you know that if it rains you’ll be envied all over the site. Dry boy dry!!

7. Banter t-shirts

We’ve lost hours at festivals just laughing our asses off and rolling on the floor laughing at banter t-shirts. Who thinks of these gems?!

People are naturally drawn to people with a sense of humour so why not witness the love queue for you as you don a t-shirt saying something like ‘If lost, please return to nearest pub’ or ‘I’m with stupid (arrow pointing to your right)’ or the classic ‘Feck’ which is done in the same template as the FCUK brand. Inspired stuff.

8. Zany, whacky shades

Glastonbury Music Festival: 40th Anniversary - Day 3

Lots of people wear shades at festivals and rain or shine, it’s hard to stand out. However, with super-giant-enormous joke shades, or shades shaped like stars, you will instantly look way cooler and will show your lighter side too.

That’s the oxymoron right there. Shades which show your lighter side. It works on every level. Do it.

9. Socks and crocs

This should not be the exclusive domain of the Irish man on holidays around the world. Bring it to the Picnic. Show people you are a man of the world with this irresistible combination of crocs and ankle high white sports socks.

crocs

It will look especially cool and debonair if worn in the mud and rain. You will look radical, you will look like a man who doesn’t like to conform. Sock and croc it to the man, people power!!!

10. Accessories

Theses are simply must-have items at the Picnic. Bring a glo-stick! You will look like a party animal and who doesn’t love a party animal? Wear a necklace with a piece of driftwood on it.

cool

This will tell people that you’ve got style whilst also hinting that you survived being stuck on a desert island for quite some time, where you found yourself and now you are this well rounded soul content within himself and with a very interesting perspective on life. Chicks dig that.

Most of all, have a great time folks and if you’re not dressed to impress, we’re not impressed with eh…your …eh..dress……..or something. Have a good one.
