A new law means those boozy holidays to Magaluf are going to be a thing of the past

This is a game-changer

Joe Harrington

The locals felt something had to be done.

Magaluf has been the location for many a Leaving Cert results holiday / last-minute sunny holiday when you’re broke.

You know what you’re letting yourself in for; cheap drink, chewy steaks, a farmer’s tan and lots of English people.

The place is so frickin’ messy, but that might be a thing of the past because of new drinking rules being introduced there.

What

Yeah, the new rules will give police the power to take alcohol off anyone drinking on the street between 10pm and 8am.

According to The Mirror, premises will only be able to host one pub crawl a day between 8pm and midnight for a maximum of 20 people.

The new rules also mean that off-licences will be prohibited from selling booze after midnight and before 8am.

The clampdown comes after Maga was at the centre of controversy last summer when an 18-year-old girl from Armagh performed a sex act on 24 guys in a bar to get a free drink.

The new proposals, which they hope will make the place more tourist friendly, are expected to be introduced from May 1.
