Good company and a pint is the perfect crime.
We’ve often fantasised (not that type of fantasising you filghy dog) about having a drink and a chat with our heroes.
We have tried to come up with a definitive list of celebrities who would be fascinating company over a pint.
Obviously, you have your own ideas, but this, this is for us right now, and in no particular order:
Bono
The U2 frontman is one of the most famous people on the planet. Like him or loathe him, he is never ignored. In the middle of yet another world tour with U2, the man from Finglas/Ballymun would be a great one for the stories.
He knows everyone including Obama, Clinton, the Dalai Lama, Christy Dignam and Bruce Springsteen amongst others. Plus, he’s not short of a few bob, and we’d fully expect him to pay for the pint.
Roy Keane
Another one of our own who polarises opinion. He is one of the most interesting sportsmen to ever come out of this country and although not the biggest drinker anymore, we’d imagine an hour in his company, would be both enlightening and thrilling.
Imagine getting the inside scoop on what it was like to be at Old Trafford during the glory years, his time in Saipan, his new role as assistant to Martin O’Neill. Yep, definitely having Keano on the list.
Quentin Tarantino
One of the most iconic movie directors of our time, who wouldn’t want to spend some time in the company of one of the greatest minds in modern cinema?
It would be intriguing to see what makes the man from Tennessee tick. I’d certainly be getting the rounds in, but not to show our legendary hospitality, but merely to enhance my chances of a part in his next big production.
Jennifer Lawrence
The multi-award winning actor Jennifer Lawrence is a must. Not only is she incredibly talented and absolutely stunning, but seems to have the personality to go with it. She’s also promising a visit to these parts soon.
She’s been a guest host of Saturday Night Live a couple of times which is testament to her ability to have the craic. Yep, a couple of pints with Miss Lawrence would be a dream come true.
Ricky Gervais
Imagine an hour in this man’s company? One of the finest comedic minds of our generation, he would be amazing to chat to over a scoop or two down the local.
So many questions such as ‘Is Karl really like that?’ or ‘Have you ever worked in an actual office?’
Ronda Rousey
Just like Conor McGregor, one of the biggest names in the UFC. She is omnipresent. We are not sure if her training regime would allow a little tipple, but think of the security of having this woman as your drinking buddy?
It would be a very interesting chat though, trying to see what exactly she is like behind the persona played to the media.
Ronan O’Gara
Some would probably opt for Brian O’Driscoll, but for me O’Gara is a fascinating individual. He’s the type who speaks his mind and if it’s not your cup of tea then sorry, but he’s not here to be your pal.
Obviously, it would make for an excrutiating session if Ronan was to point out how bad our pint drinking technique was all the time, but his honesty and fortrightness would be refreshing if nothing else.
Jack Nicholson
Who wouldn’t like to go for a pint with this screen legend? He is one of the greatest actors of all time and has a smile that will either unnerve you or fill you with joy.
The stories that man could tell would be fantastic. Granted, we’d be getting him to do Joker impressions most of the night, but yeah, he’s definitely on the list.
Amy Schumer
The enormously talented Amy Schumer is a Schu-in (not one bit sorry) for a pint with us. One of the funniest women on the planet, you just know the time spent with her would be all about the lols and stuff.
A good pal of Jennifer Lawrence, we could possibly bring both out on the razz. A man can dream.
Shaun Ryder
The Happy Mondays frontman has defied science by remaining alive to this point and we’d anticipate a brilliant session in his company.
The stories that man must possess about the whole Madchester era. There’d never be a dull moment. He could twist our melon any day.
