VIDEO: Adam McKay, director of The Big Short, backs Lenny Abrahamson to win Best Director at the Oscars

Eoghan Doherty

He’s kind of a big deal…

Adam McKay is a talented man.

Not only has he directed some of the funniest comedies of the last two decades, including Anchorman, Step Brothers and The Other Guys, he’s now been nominated for the Best Director Oscar for his work on The Big Short, a film based on the best-selling book by Michael Lewis.

The Big Short, also nominated for Best Picture at this year’s Oscars, documents the collapse of the global economy and features an all-star cast including Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie.

Laura Holland sat down with Adam to chat about improvising with Carell and Pitt, his next project with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, and it seems he’s a big fan of fellow Best Director nominee, Irish director and friend of JOE, Lenny Abrahamson.

Enjoy…

The Big Short is in Irish cinemas now.
