#TRAILERCHEST: Mudbound might actually win Netflix the Best Picture award at the 2018 Oscars

This looks incredibly powerful.

“Don’t just come back. Come all the way back.”

Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we’re taking a sneak peek at the brand new trailer for Mudbound.

Plot’s it all about? Two men (Hedlund and Mitchell) return home from World War II to work on a farm in rural Mississippi, where they struggle to deal with racism and adjusting to life after war.

Combining several of America’s least favourite moments of reflection, Mudbound has been on the receiving end of some of the best reviews of the year so far, having done the film festival circuit for a few months before eventually finding its home on Netflix later this year.

After their first attempt at potential awards recognition Beasts Of No Nation fell flat, and their direct competition Amazon Productions did better last year with their biggie Manchester By The Sea, Netflix are coming out all guns firing for the 2018 Academy Awards’ attention, between this, the Adam Sandler starring (we know, we’re as surprised as you are, all things considered) The Meyerowitz Stories, and not forgetting the really rather fantastic Okja, we’d be REALLY surprised if none of these got any kind of Oscar attention.

Starring: Carey Mulligan, Jason Clarke, Garrett Hedlund, Jonathan Banks, Jason Mitchell and Mary J Blige.

Directed by: Dee Rees

Irish and UK release date: 17 November.

Enjoy!
