WATCH: The story of the Irish village plagued with ‘raging erections’ is being made into a film

Kate Demolder

And that is the best headline we’re ever going to write. Ever.

The small town of Ringaskiddy, County Cork made the news just two weeks ago over reports that men in the village were plagued with constant erections due to fumes at a nearby Viagra factory.

A local bar worker described the unusual situation as: “One whiff and you’re stiff. We’ve been getting the love fumes for years now for free.”

Another was quoted as saying that even the local dogs “walk around in a state of sexual excitement”.

Pfizer went on to deny that the fumes caused any such effect, stating that their manufacturing processes ”have always been highly sophisticated as well as highly regulated.”

Well, it seems that the greatest inspiration does indeed hail from real life situations as New York-based writer and producer Daniel Keith has allegedly based his new movie on an Irish play originally written to take place in the fictional town of Kilnerry in County Donegal.

The screenplay, entitled Love in Kilnerry, has been shot on location in the States earlier this year and has been Americanised to take place on Kilneery, New Hampshire.

Keith explained his inspiration of the bizarre yet captivating story: “I wanted to make a storybook movie my grandmother or people of all ages would think was funny. A story like this has never been done before.

“We had incredible theater and film actors that were hysterical.”

Love in Kilnerry is due for release in 2018.
