It was a tough slog but they got there in the end.
Room to Improve fans were probably sure that the episode featuring Daniel and Majella O’Donnell from earlier this season wasn’t going to be topped, but nobody that tuned in will forget Sunday night’s episode in a hurry.
This week, Dermot met Christine, an IT manager who recently purchased a house in Clontarf (or was it Fairview or even Marino?) and turned to the nation’s favourite architect in an effort to convert it into the house of her dreams.
Christine certainly had an idea of what she wanted – her wish list was 25 pages long and included a “New York-style kitchen” – but whether her budget could accommodate those wishes was another matter entirely.
It wasn’t the smoothest of processes – Dermot even accused the house itself of having “notions” at one point – but viewers couldn’t take their eyes off it for a second in what was a highly entertaining episode all round.
You can catch up on the episode on the RTÉ Player here; roll on next Sunday night.
The house is bloody gorgeous. Dermot is brilliant!! Christine obviously works incredibly hard to get what she has. And, remember, pre-recorded TV shows can be edited in any number of ways. #roomtoimprove

In the end, Dermot’s decision to go with the white brick wall is a hit with Christine. Solid choice, Mr. Bannon. #RoomToImprove pic.twitter.com/lea6qoFtgg

Joe Duffy’s first call on #Liveline tomorrow will be from a woman in Clontarf…. #RoomToImprove

The thing I love about this country is that on Sunday nights, we can all come together to slate somebody with unrealistic architectural expectations on Twitter. It just warms my heart. #RoomToImprove

I was rooting for Christine by the end after the shnakey kitchen-colour stroke. And she's probably on good 6 figure € has 2 dublin houses and doesn't give a f*ck what we think with our Billy bookcase, Aldi rice cooker and the last dregs of the xmas Yankee candle #roomtoimprove

I’m divided about that #roomtoimprove. There was a bit of sneering about Christine and her scrapbooks and her magazines and her wanting to have a say in the final design … almost as though she wasn’t actually the client

Dermot has brought the style and sophistication of a New York loft to Christine’s vintage red brick house.
This really is Manhattan meets Clontarf. #RoomToImprove pic.twitter.com/MLciyQYfQj
